Refund Policy

Editor Bureau — Refund & Cancellation Policy

1. Purpose and Scope

This Policy explains refunds, cancellations, returns, replacements and payment reversals for Editor Bureau (“EB”, “we”, “us” or “our”) products and services.

It applies to Editorial Memberships, Reviewer Memberships, Elite Editor and Elite Reviewer memberships, merchandise, future paid digital products or subscriptions, advertising/sponsored services, and other paid services where EB states that this Policy applies.

Product-specific terms shown before purchase apply together with this Policy. Mandatory rights under applicable law are not excluded.

2. EB Membership Principle

Membership fees provide access to the relevant Editorial or Reviewer membership track and the ability to participate subject to EB editorial, quality, moderation and other Platform policies.

Membership does not guarantee publication, review approval, earnings, revenue share, employment or any particular commercial outcome.

3. Ongoing Trial Refund Program

EB intends the Editorial/Reviewer Trial Refund Program to be an ongoing part of its membership model, rather than a temporary launch promotion.

The refund opportunity applies to qualifying Editorial/Reviewer memberships during the first three (3) months from purchase or activation (“Trial Period”).

EB may make prospective changes where reasonably necessary because of law, taxation, payment-provider requirements, product structure or operational requirements. A change will not retrospectively remove a refund right already vested under the applicable version, except where required by law.

4. Editorial Member Refund Eligibility

An Editorial Member may claim a refund during the Trial Period only if all conditions are met:

  1. The member purchased a qualifying Editorial Membership.
  2. The member actually used the Platform for its intended editorial purpose.
  3. Within the Trial Period, the member submitted at least one article/blog that was approved through EB’s editorial process and published on the Platform.
  4. The member has not received, accepted, withdrawn or claimed earnings, revenue share, profit share, bonus, incentive or other monetary benefit from EB before submitting the refund request.
  5. The refund request is submitted before the Trial Period ends.
  6. No refund exclusion applies.

The member may complete the required contribution and request the refund before the end of three months.

5. Reviewer Member Refund Eligibility

A Reviewer Member may claim a refund during the Trial Period only if all conditions are met:

  1. The member purchased a qualifying Reviewer Membership.
  2. The member actually used the Platform for its intended reviewer purpose.
  3. Within the Trial Period, the member successfully completed at least two substantive reviews that were accepted through EB’s review process and were associated with content subsequently approved and published on the Platform.
  4. The member has not received, accepted, withdrawn or claimed earnings, revenue share, profit share, bonus, incentive or other monetary benefit from EB before submitting the refund request.
  5. The refund request is submitted before the Trial Period ends.
  6. No refund exclusion applies.

6. Refund OR Earnings — One Benefit Only

A qualifying member must choose between the Trial Refund and monetary earnings/revenue entitlement arising from the membership participation covered by this program. The member cannot receive both.

If a member receives, accepts, withdraws or claims any EB earnings, revenue share, profit share, bonus, incentive, payout or other monetary benefit before submitting a refund request, the Trial Refund right ends.

If a member receives an approved refund, the member waives future claims to earnings or revenue share attributable to the refunded membership participation, to the extent permitted by law.

Where earnings have accrued but are not yet payable during the Trial Period, a member choosing the refund route will not subsequently receive those earnings covered by the refund election, subject to applicable law.

7. Earnings Timing

Unless a separate contributor/revenue agreement states otherwise, earnings generated during the initial Trial Period become eligible for payout only after the Trial Period ends and the member remains eligible under the applicable earnings rules.

Choosing the refund route before payout waives the corresponding earnings claim. Choosing or receiving earnings ends the Trial Refund right.

8. Refund Exclusions

A refund is unavailable under this program if the member has not completed the required contribution within the Trial Period.

A refund is unavailable if the member has already received, accepted, withdrawn or claimed monetary benefits that extinguish the refund right under Section 6.

Subject to applicable law, EB may refuse a refund where the member has materially breached EB policies, committed fraud, plagiarised, impersonated another person, manipulated the publishing/review system, abused the refund program or deliberately misused the Platform.

EB will not use a policy violation to deny a refund where applicable law requires a refund or other consumer remedy.

9. Refund Amount and Deductions

For a qualifying membership, the refundable amount is the membership fee actually paid to EB, less only amounts that are lawfully and reasonably non-refundable or were actually incurred and cannot be recovered by EB in connection with the transaction.

Potential deductions may include payment-gateway, payment-aggregator or transaction-processing charges actually incurred by EB, and taxes/statutory amounts only to the extent they are not legally refundable or cannot lawfully be credited or recovered.

EB will not impose an arbitrary refund-processing fee merely because a refund is requested.

If no eligible non-recoverable cost has been incurred, the deduction for that item is ₹0.

Example: For a ₹1,200 membership, if the payment provider cost is ₹0, EB will not deduct a payment-provider fee. If an eligible non-recoverable cost of ₹X is actually incurred, the refundable amount is ordinarily ₹1,200 minus that amount, subject to applicable tax treatment and law.

10. Refund Request Process

Email contact@editorbureau.com with the subject “Editorial/Reviewer Membership Refund Request”.

Include the registered email address, transaction/membership ID, plan, purchase date, qualifying contribution details and any information reasonably needed to verify eligibility.

EB may verify publication/review status, payment status and earnings status before approval.

Do not send passwords, OTPs, CVVs, card PINs or authentication tokens by email.

11. Publication, Copyright and Account Deletion

A refund does not automatically require EB to remove, delete or unpublish an article, review or other content that was validly approved and published.

Unless a separate written agreement says otherwise, copyright ownership in original content remains with the contributor, subject to the licence granted to EB under the Terms and contributor agreement.

By submitting content for publication, the contributor grants EB a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, to the extent legally permitted, to host, store, reproduce, display, publish, distribute, archive, index, format, resize, technically modify and otherwise use the published content as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, archive and present the Platform, including after a refund or account closure.

If a member deletes their account, EB may retain and display a previously published contribution under an anonymised byline such as “Anonymous Contributor” or “Anonymous Reviewer”, where appropriate.

This does not transfer copyright ownership to EB unless a separate written agreement expressly does so, and does not override non-waivable author rights under applicable law.

12. Membership After Refund

Once a membership refund is approved and processed, the refunded membership entitlement ends and EB may disable the associated editorial/reviewer privileges.

Previously approved and published content may remain on the Platform under Section 11.

A future membership purchase does not revive waived earnings or a previously extinguished refund right.

13. No Guaranteed Publication or Earnings

Membership provides participation access only. It does not guarantee approval, publication, promotion, monetisation or earnings.

All submissions remain subject to EB editorial standards, content policies, originality requirements, legal requirements and other applicable rules.

14. Merchandise — Consumer-Friendly Returns

EB intends merchandise returns and refunds to be fair and consumer-friendly while protecting customers and EB from fraud and misuse.

If merchandise is damaged, defective, materially different from its description, incorrect, counterfeit, or otherwise deficient, EB will investigate and, where appropriate, provide replacement, return, repair where applicable, refund or another remedy required by law.

If EB ships the wrong product, EB will bear the reasonable cost of correcting its fulfilment error, subject to applicable logistics procedures.

If a product is not delivered within the stated delivery schedule, EB will investigate and provide an appropriate remedy under applicable law and the applicable shipping terms.

Change-of-mind returns are governed by the product-specific terms shown at purchase.

Customized, personalized, made-to-order or other identified non-returnable products may be excluded to the extent permitted by law.

Where EB expressly represents or guarantees merchandise authenticity, EB will stand behind that representation subject to applicable law and product terms.

15. Merchandise Return Process

Contact contact@editorbureau.com with the order ID, registered email, product details, delivery date and description of the issue.

EB will provide return instructions where a return is required.

Do not ship merchandise to an address unless EB has provided return instructions.

Where a return is approved because of a defective, damaged or incorrect product, EB will not unfairly shift the cost of correcting EB’s own fulfilment error to the customer.

16. Digital Products and Future Paid Services

If EB introduces paid digital products, reports, courses, tools or other digital services, product-specific cancellation/refund terms may be displayed before purchase.

If a paid digital product or service is not delivered, is materially deficient or cannot be accessed because of an EB-side technical failure, EB will investigate and may provide restoration, replacement, extension, credit or refund as appropriate.

Where legally permitted, refunds for digital products already fully delivered, accessed or consumed may be limited by the terms disclosed before purchase.

17. Subscriptions and Recurring Payments

If EB introduces recurring subscriptions, cancellation will generally stop future renewal charges when completed before the applicable renewal deadline.

Subscription-specific pages may state renewal dates, cancellation processes, trial terms and refund treatment.

If a recurring charge occurs after a valid cancellation because of an EB-side processing error, EB will investigate and provide an appropriate refund where applicable.

18. Advertising and Sponsored Services

Refunds for advertising, sponsored content, promotional placement or commercial services are governed by the applicable order, insertion order, campaign agreement or service-specific terms.

Unless those terms provide otherwise, amounts relating to services already delivered are generally non-refundable to the extent permitted by law.

EB does not guarantee impressions, clicks, traffic, conversions, rankings, engagement or revenue unless expressly agreed in writing.

19. Duplicate, Failed and Unauthorised Payments

Confirmed duplicate charges caused by technical or payment-processing errors will be refunded, subject to applicable payment procedures.

If a payment appears debited but EB does not receive successful confirmation, reconciliation may be required with the bank, UPI provider, card issuer or payment gateway.

If a customer believes a payment was unauthorised, they should immediately contact EB and their bank/payment provider.

20. Refund Processing

Once approved, EB will initiate a refund within a reasonable period and within any period required by law or applicable payment rules.

EB’s target is to initiate an approved refund within seven (7) business days unless a shorter period is required.

The time for funds to appear depends on the bank, card issuer, UPI provider, payment gateway or other financial institution.

Refunds will ordinarily be made to the original payment method where reasonably possible.

21. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

Customers are encouraged to contact EB first where practical.

If a chargeback or payment dispute is initiated, EB may provide relevant transaction and fulfilment information to the payment provider or financial institution as necessary.

Nothing here prevents a customer from exercising rights available under applicable law or payment-network rules.

22. Fraud and Abuse

EB may investigate suspected fraud or abuse.

Subject to applicable law, EB may refuse or restrict a refund where there is credible evidence of fraudulent activity, false claims, payment manipulation, deliberate Platform misuse or repeated refund abuse.

EB may suspend or terminate accounts under its Terms and applicable policies where fraudulent or abusive conduct is established.

23. Consumer Rights and Applicable Law

This Policy is intended to operate consistently with applicable Indian law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, as amended from time to time.

Those rules apply to goods and services bought or sold over digital or electronic networks, including digital products, and require relevant return/refund information to be provided clearly and accessibly.

Nothing in this Policy excludes or restricts a consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or waived.

Where a product or service is defective, deficient, spurious, materially different from what was advertised/agreed, or otherwise attracts a mandatory remedy, EB will provide the remedy required by applicable law.

25. Policy Updates

EB may update this Policy prospectively to reflect changes in law, taxation, payment-provider requirements, products, services or operations.

For transactions already completed, the version applicable at the time of purchase will generally govern, except where a later change is required by law or is more favorable to the customer.
